Hello,

You can find the scarmbling guide in the below link where most of your questions will be answered.

http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=00200797470000095308&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&_O...

Also you can use Simulation where you can see how the data would appear after scarmbling with the desired scarmbling type you choose based on your requirement.

Best Regards,

Farheen.

Hello,

What are you going to scramble HR data or ERP data like vendor data, material data etc. TDMS have some inbuilt scrambling rules which you can just copy in your package while executing the package. I would suggest you to explain your requirement in more detail like exactly what information you are looking for ? or may be first you can have a look at the how to guide for scrambling which is available on service market place.

Thanks,

Thanks Anita for your response.

I understood that there are ready made content scrambling rules from SAP  which we can use and in other words we need to know the best practice or benchmarking of what types should we pick.  There are delete value, fixed value, 1:1 mapping, number conversion, random table w/ one column, and random table w/ more than one column.

The end result for us that no exposure to sensitive data.

Hello Amr Duhathim,

Whatever scrambling type you choose sensitive data will not be exposed to user. Now, it totally depends on the customer to choose from the scrambling type which suits to them. If you want to make the data completely anonymous then better go for random values assignment for example number range but again there are no such benchmarking as what type should be chosen. In how to guide you must have already seen some examples as which type to choose when.

Thank you so much Anita.

So if we use any type we will reach for scrambled sensitive data, however we need to make sure the usability of data meaning if for example in HR the employee ID is a sensitive data but we try not to scramble it because it impacts the full cycle let say the payroll or other modules.  In this case we scramble the data but we have not balanced the usability, and also to keep a good data after scrambling for testing purposes this is why I asked the above question.

Also, moreover can we use two types of scrambling i.e. delete value & random table w/ more than one column together?

Thanks and best regards,

Hello Amr Duhathim,

Yes, you can use two types of scrambling. Regarding scrambling of employee id impact on testing of modules like payroll, why do you think that it will impact on the testing ? For testing payroll you will have all other information like salary, allowances its just that only employee id will be scrambled and you will not know who's salary is which one. So, that's the actual use of scrambling where you have all the production like data but you don't know to which employee it belongs to. If you are looking for some more specific information/help then I would suggest you to open a customer message in component

CA-TDM.

Thanks,

Anita
