Hi,

Together with our Basis department we are trying to solve a mistery on our systems in regards to different ESS roles(those predeliverede from SAP).

In the attached Doc the date difference is visibly plus the different in dates for the "released" packeded.

Does anyone know if the ESS is delivered in the ESS BP or?

JEsper, How did you resolve this issue? I am facing the same  issue now. Could you please explain me?

Now I got the same versions of the ESS role in LPD_cust so that problem is solved.

The next problem is that no entries in the ESS role in the portal is activated when the links are pressed fx. under  Personnel information -> Personnel file.

this works on every other system than our development system where I have to develop our solution :-(...

Any experience with this??

Check for the services whether they are been activated in the transaction code SICF. Check with the Basis consultant for this activation.

All the services can be run thru sicf, so they are up and running.

It is some kind of "pressing the link" event that is not thrown kind of thing.

But this is really where my knowledge ends 😞

hi,

I am not sure what you want a screenshot for but here we go 🙂

Applications can be started when I test the app configuration from SE80.

did you assign the correct roles in backend SAP_EMPLOYEE_ESS_WDA_1?

Can you do a HTTP trace and verify or a ST01 trace to see if it is related to authorization,

You can troubleshoot by assigning SAP_ALL?

check your system alias in ESS role in lpd_cust?

Hi Jesper,

Please test whether your single sign on with R/3 system is working or not.

System Administration --> Support --> Application Integration and Session Management --> Test and Configuration Tools.

Also assign a Personnel no to the user id in PA30 and check.

I have assigned role: SAP_EMPLOYEE_ESS_WDA_1, System alias have been checked, SAP_ALL has been giving.

I have done the test in System Administration --> Support --> Application Integration and Session Management --> Test and Configuration Tools and with the same result.

SSO is working fine.

I have tried to do a HTTP trace between a working env - Our Sandbox and the one not working DEV.

First picture is our working trace on our sandbox:

Second is the one trace from HTTP trace

Hi Jesper,

In the LPD_cust you can clearly see the ESS related launchpad. Here the Role: ESS and the instance : MENU is the ESS role which the end user will be able to see when he logs into portal.

If you are not sure of the roles defined in LPD_CUST assign the employees self service role (WDA) to any of the users and check the list of applications in portal and compare with the Role: ESS and the instance : MENU.

Role: ESS and the instance: RELATED_LINKS is for displaying any related links in the ESS role.

Please find the screenshot where i have highlighted the various roles. The ESS role from launchpad id is been assigned in the following manner,

Go to SE80->FPM_LAUNCHPAD_UIBB->HRESS_CC_MENU_AREA_GROUP and start configuration where you continue in display mode and check for the role.

For using the WDA role please check whether the business functions related to that are activated (HCM_ESS_WDA_1 , HCM_ESS_WDA_2)

Hope the above information was helpful for you.

Hi Jesper,

Did you check the difference of activated Businnes functions between your systems?

Transaction SFW5

This could be the answer if your support packages are on the same level...
