Issue with FormulaH property

Hi Experts,

We are using BPC 7.5 M sp04, we are having 4 Parenth properties in our Account dimension and I am trying to create one more Parenth5, I created Parenth5 by inserting a column in dimension sheet and defined the values, when I process the dimension it says define "FormulaH5", Do I need to create "FormulaH5" property in same way like I created Parenth5 by inserting a column in dimension sheet or it needs to be defined via Maintain Dimension property.

What is the purpose and use of FormulaH property?

Thanks & Regards,

Rohit

    Hi Rohit,

yes you have to add the property FORMULAH5, this because in theory in every hierarchy you can put a formula to calculate some data that you don't want\need to be save on the database.

Remember please that formulas are heavy, this because these are calculated immediately when you request the value. so if you have a lot of formulas in your members data the performance will heavily decrease.

However even if you don't use the formulas you need the related property when you add a hierarchy.

Remember also if you have a lot of dimension (more then 12) and\or you have a lot of records (> 10 millions of records) 5 hierarchies could decrease your performance.

    • Hi Rohit,

formula is created from bpc when you define the dimension, you have only 1 hierarchy and so bpc use formula name, if you have more than one hierarchy bpc create FORMULAHx property and you have to add it in the dim xls.

"Why Formula column is not there in mbrAccount table."

you should found Formula not in mbrAccount but in dimAccount (also H1, H"...)

      Regards

    Hi Rohit,

I do not think you have to define a new Property but simply add a new column "FormulaH5".
