Pegging relationship in CTM

Former Member

Hello gurus,

I got a CTM planning logic concern on how demand is being pegged by CTM run and how it is being prioritized. I know that this can be controlled in CTM settings strategies tab but this sample scenario made me confused...

I have a two demands:

demand 1 = 1000 dated 01.01.2014

demand 2 = 500 dated 03.02.2014

I only have 100 stocks on the week before demand 1.

What I find weird is that after my CTM run, it created Planned Order pegged to demand 2 only.

05.01.2014 = 300 ==> pegged to demand 2

12.01.2014 = 100 ==> pegged to demand 2

19.01.2014 = 100 ==> pegged to demand 2

The one pegged to demand 1 is the remaining stock of 100, which is obviously cannot fulfill it.

My demand prioritization in CTM is Material Availability Date. So in my understanding, CTM should create planned order prioritizing demand 1 since it is the one with earlier MAD.

Is there any other settings that controls this scenario? ALso, can you give me more information how the system would know how it will peg the stocks and planned orders in a demand?

And how they were prioritized?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Ayana,

CTM is creating supply for Demand 2 and not Demand 1.

This suggests me two things.

1) In the explanation profile, you said it only shows stock is not available. CTM will try to produce it as next step. But, CTM is not able to find valid source of supply (please check your PDS effective dates)

2) As the demand is close to today's date. CTM is encountering a constraint  (May be one of your time fences) because of which CTM is not creating demands.

You can move Demand 1 date in future and try if CTM is creating supply for it. If it does, then it's to do with the SNP production horizon.

Hi Ayana,

From the CTM run results you have got, it looks earliest supply possible is on 5th January 2014( whatever  constraints/settings are there).

Since you have not allowed late fulfillment of demand, system is unable to fulfill demand 1.

By allowing Late fulfillment, you should get the desired result.

Of course, you will have consult business if late fulfillment will be okay from business perspective.

Apart from "Allow Late fulfillment of Demand", You may also check the CTM profile setting for Planning Strategies >> Order Creation field ( Order Creation  Start ... Days from Today.

As stated in earlier replies, you also need to check Horizons(Production, Stock transfer horizon, Planned delivery time etc.).

Suggest you to activate explanation profile for your CTM run, by which you can have all the information why the demands are not fully fulfilled.

Hi Ada,

I have tried activating the explanation profile but I can only see "No stock found" warning messages. But, if there are no stock I supposed CTM should create them.

Do you know how system do pegging?

Thanks in advance..

Hi, maybe you read the explanation in a wrong way ... if it's convenient for you, can you please attach the screenshot?

Are you saying the demand #1 is not being met at all except for the 100?  Then its probably due to some lateness setting.

OK, if there no other entry except for "No stock found", then you may need to check whether you have included the valid source of supply (PPM/PDS/T-lane) in the CTM master data.

Hello Ada/Sunil,

Yes. PPM is included in the CTM masterdata and they are all determined in CTM Logs. You can find the CTM Global Settings for reference:

!

Thanks a lot!
