I can see from task manager that the excel.exe -32 process runs in background when the program is invoked and I also kill this process before relaunching the dashboards program.
I have repaired/reinstalled the dashboards couple of times already!
Prior to installing Dashboards, I have also installed the BI platform and all other client tools including Crystal Reports 2013 ( & Lumira 64 bit ) on the same server. They all work just fine.
Please help.
Thanks Kajal
Your solution worked for us.

Hello ! I have the same problem. And this answer helped meIssues when launching Dashboard designer on secured web access environment. - you should rename folder "startPage"

Office 2013 is not supported with BI 4.1

I agree with Abhilasha.
Xcelsius 4.1 SP1 does work with Office 2013, however, I have noticed some slight but annoying inconsistencies. For example, ranges do not seem to remain anchored for a particular cell or array. In other words, once a range is defined for an object, the range is not highlighted automatically once you try to edit it.
In 2010 range editing works fine. I tested editing 2010 created components in an .xlf with 2013 and the ranges were shown in the dialog box, but they did not automatically highlight when you tried to edit the range by clicking on the small red box. The range defaulted to the location where you had your cursor in the spreadsheet at the time of editing.
The same behavior was observed when creating in 2013 and then editing in 2013.
This is not a huge error - but it makes me wonder what else might or could happen downstream..
I am using Windows 7 Professional. 2013 is 32 bit NOT 64.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get 2013 to recognize xcelsius ranges once they have been created? Thanks.
Todd
Hello - The way I solved this was to set up a virtual machine with windows 7 and office 2010 - BOTH 32 bit. Used xcelsius / dashboard design 4.1 - latest sp.
If you do not have the option of a virtual machine, they I would suggest having a machine with no office 2013 at all - Xcelsius DID work with office 2013 - but there were slight but hugely annoying issues with range anchoring, etc that made development and modifications next to impossible. Didn't trust it so I punted. Todd
i uninstalled it and then installed office 2007 that is worked good with dashboard 4.1 as others said
but no result ,
i tried then another source but there was an error INS 140 code valid after searching i used patch called iskeyvalid.exe and replaced it by origin files then it worked
but after installation it requested keycode again and with the same key that i used in installation and accepted after replacing the patch , it say that it's invalid again
please , give me any advice
HI Ahmed,
When Dashboard is run, it tries to make connection to internet through configured start page.
The following steps will prevent the start page from accessing to
the online resources:
1- Go the following folder <your Dashboards 4.0 install
folder>\assets\startPage\en (the language used)\js
2- Open the javascript file start_function.js
3- Find the function onInitialize()
4- Comment line InitializeResourcesTag()
Example:
function onInitialize()
{
RefreshMRUTables();
//InitializeResourcesTag();
InitializePageContent();
}
Now when Dashboards is started again the online content will
not be loaded.
Please let me know if it resolves your issue.
Thanks,
Kajal
Hello Ahmed,
Goto directory where tomcat is installed, take a backup of your Catalina folder (tomcat cache),then delete it. Stop your tomcat server, stop your SIA. Then start your tomcat and then SIA. It will take sometime to get started, depending on the size of Catalina. Check in task manager when tomcat7 process gets stable.
I hope it resolves your issue.
Thanks,
Kajal
Hi Rohit,
Were you able to solve this issue? I am also facing the same error. I have deployed Client tools and dashboards 4.1 SP1 on separate server from Business Object Server on AWS Cloud.
Please let me know if some solution is available.
Regards.
Kajal

Hi Kajal,
We had to install the Dashboards client application on a separate server with no other SAP BI components. It worked this way ( obviously not an ideal way to make it work). And yes, office 2013 32 bit works with the Dashboards 4.1 sp1 in our environment which is a private cloud not an AWS cloud.
So, as a next step, we are trying to evaluate the option & put together all the SAP BI 32 bit client apps along with Crystal Reports and Dashbaords on a separate machine and 64 bit platform server components on another machine.
Cheers
Hi Rohit,
The same happened to me. Which versions are you using? It is required that all components in a SAP BO system be at the same maintenance level. Please, have a look at this link:

Hi Carlos,
We are using 4.1 with sp1...And the it is the same for both Web Intelligence and Dashboards..I checked the build level also .
Now, I have got just the Dashboards deployed on a separate server with Office 2013 32 bit. And it works from this machine. Apparently, there is some interference between the 64 bit components of the MS Sql sever or even may be 64 bit components of SAP BI with the 32 bit components needed by Dashboards.
Thanks for your comments though.
Cheers
Just ceheck whether you are installing this client on the BO server as due to resource utilization there might be the issue.
Check the version of office as office should be 32 bit 2010 or 2007
Check if any anti virus was turned on when installing the setup.
Did you run it as admin
Delete the registry entries for Xcelsius and athen uninstall and the delete any leftover folders for xcelsius.As there are some issues with office 2013 so check with 2010 32 bit

Hi Amit, I had anticipated the resource utilization as the issue but the CPU/memory were all ok even when other client apps were launched. And we are using office 2013 in our environment and it is also supported as per PAM , so don't think this as the case.
I did run this as admin but don't think that antivirus was turned on . I will do check this though. Now , as I mentioned in other post, we are trying to get the client applications deployed on a separate machine with no 64 bit server components so that these can be published on our citrix platform. Hopefully, this will help.
Thanks for your inputs & help.
Hello Rohit,
1) Try to Un-install Ms Office 2013 32bit
2) Try to Un-install Dashboard-
----------------------Please try to restart (clean all temp files)
3) Try to Install Ms office 2013 64bit
4) Try to Install Dashbaord

Thanks Srinath. I already couple of un-install/re-installs for office 2013 32b & Dashboards...but no success!
And with office 2013 64 ..I did not try since it is not supported as per the PAM..
Now I am trying to shift the 32 bit client applications on a separate machine with no 64 bit server components since ultimately these are needed to be made available as a published application on our citrix platform. So, hoping that this will work !
Will post the outcome in any case!
