STS Locking- displayable mode

hi all,

We are on SEM 3.5 SP15.( BW 3.10 SP 13).

We are implementing status and tracking for our planning application. Referring to the notes and forum we concluded that the planning package selection should be contained in header characteristics of the planning session for the data to be locked. We are able to get the lock condition once the user sends data for approval.

Now, our problem is that the user gets the message 'An exclusive lock has been set ' and he couldn't see the layout even in display mode. We want that the layout should be displayed to him in displayable mode automatically once the user sends the data of approval.

What we did was that, in the web interface builder we have included two layouts, one in the editable mode and other non editable. So,always user is able to see two layouts, one for planning and one for display. After he sends the data to approval, the editable-layout for planning is locked but he can see the display-layout.

Is it the correct way to go ahead with status and tracking ? or is there any better way of doing it ?

Please suggest.

Thanks in advance.

You can use data slices for locking data. So once data is approved and data slice is activated, user will be able to view the data in display mode. This avoids creating multiple layouts.

Unfortunately that is how STS works.

    Hope it helps.
