NetWeaver 7.4 HANA Install Failing on Java Dump "Load" - HANA Out of Memory

All,

The index server process - on the HANA 7.4 Install - is failing on the DB load with an out-of-memory error as follows:

[9452]{-1}[-1/-1] 2013-12-03 20:41:41.428004 e SERVER_TRACE     DeltaIndexManager.cpp(10360) : Caught exception saving merged attribute: exception  1: no.1000002  (ltt/impl/memory.cpp:64)

    Out of memory ; $size$=496823834; $name$=libhdbcs.so; $type$=pool; $inuse_count$=211406; $allocated_size$=942845733

It's a CloudShare version of HANA...20GB of memory...4 CPU...

I couldn't find anything that says that the above config is insufficient.  I searched around and couldn't find anyone with this exact error...any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Tim

As it turns out, my HANA Server didn't have enough RAM.  Out of memory...means the box is too small.  Basically, the CloudShare HANA boxes aren't big enough ... for anyone else that tries this.

Hi Tim,

20GB is enough memory to run NW 7.4 on HANA - if you are just interested in seeing HANA as the DB platform. There won't be enough memory or CPU to make much use of HANA features for analytics. You need to limit the HANA memory before you start the installation of NetWeaver.

Lower the amount of memory for HANA using the memorymanager configuration in HANA global.ini

==> global_allocation_limit=0 is default

change to

global_allocation_limit=8192000 # changed

I've installed Process Orchestration on systems with as little as 12GB of memory. I'm not going to vouch for the performance, but it works fine as a developer system.

regards, Nick
