Send flat files to a TCP/IP Connection from ABAP

We have a requirement due to a budget restriction (no SAP PI) to deliver a whole bunch of documents to a whole bunch of batching plants from SAP to a Command Alkon Batch systems http://www.commandalkon.com/cmdbatch.asp this is a very antiquated set up and we can only communicate over TCP/IP to send and receive the files - via a print server! how very 1980's! 😊

i know there are a bunch of FTP commands in ABAP, but are there anything similar for TCP/IP? i can create the SM59 connections (160+ plants!) for the TCP/IP connections and create the fixed file output... is the rest just bog standard open dataset type stuff? or is there something else?

You could create the output file, use OPEN DATASET .. FILTER with Ncat to send the file. I'm not aware of APIs in AS ABAP for native TCP/IP socket processing.
