Resolved the issue myself. This error is because of SP4 update. Then we uninstalled the SP4 and brought the system back to SP2. Now we are not getting the error. SAP suggested solution is there is some problem in SP4, so we are installing SP5 now.

Dear All,

I have tried all your suggestion , below is the answer for your questions

1) We are using BO 4.0 SP4 patch 16

BO version.jpg

2) First i have tried creating connection in IDT in my machine and tested the connection it was successful

3) But when i try to create report in Webi tool using this connection i get below error when selecting the IDT connection in Webi

4) We tried to create connection in universe , test connection was successful in universe

5) After clicking ok, we could'nt see any objects in left pane of universe

6) We checked the universe parameters user credentials and noted that the user credentials were cleared

7) If we create report using this universe in Webi , we could not see any objects there also

😎 As Durga said we tried creating connection in BO Server it was successful, but when opening UDT we got below error

9) When opening Webi tool in server we are getting below error

Note: Just for testing purpose 2 weeks before we have created new APS server enabled data federation service in CMC. We created this just to connect BO with ECC server but it was unsuccesful so we deleted it. Is this issue coming because of this try.

Dear Abhinav,

Now the error which i mentioned in 8th point is solved because of your solution,  We noted that in server machine we did,nt install SP4 Client Tools with latest patch that's the reason why we got error when opening UDT. Thanks for the solution.

But the error "Database error: Unable to connect to SAP BW server. The connection string is missing the Application or Message Host settings. The connection cannot be made without it. Connection String: occa:sap://;PROVIDER=sapbw_bapi,AUTHTYPE=CREDENTIALS,USER="",PASSWD=******. (IES 10901) (WIS 10901)" is still coming in server machine and also in my machine.  But the report is running fine in browser.

Can anybody help me in solving this issue. This creates big problem because of which i cannot create any report in BO Development.

Hi Rithikha,

Some additional things that can be quickly verified:

- Try using any BW user which has SAP_ALL linked with his account.

- Are all the transports updated back in the BW systems?

- What is current BW version, should be minimum BW701 SP06.

- Does this ever worked before?

- If you have any other BW system, test the same behavior after creating new connection to it. In case it works fine compare the difference between both the BW systems.

- Do we have any difference in the upgradation path on Client and server patches?

Thanks,

Abhi

Hi Rithika,

If you say you are using Universe, so to my understandig your report is based on OLAP universe.

Is it BOE3.1 or BI4.0?

If it is BOE3.1, do you have SAP-IK installed on the machine from where you using WebI Rich Client?

From the same machine try doing test connection from Universe and check the behavior?

Also if you using SSO (SAP Athentication), use hardcoded username and password in the connection and test the behavior.

Hope this will drill down above problem.

Can you check if you can create a new report from your Webi Rich client from your machine?

Also try to run the report from the businessobject appserver directly using rich client and see if there is any error..

Is there any firewall that might block a request from your machine but not from server?

Hi Rithika,

check the universe connection details. Login parameters to access the data base.

Hi Rithika,

First of all please test the connection through IDT or CMC. if Test is unsuccessfull then you need to check all the parameters and connection details whether they are correctly defined.

If the connection test is successfull then try creating another WebI report based on same connection if it works fine.

Hi Rithika

Which type of OLAP connection you are using to open webi report? Pre-defined, prompt or SSO based?

Login to CMC-->OLAP connection-->edit and click on connect. provide same id and password fo rwhich you are getting error.. if you are able to see inforarea and query name then connection is fine.

If still getting error that users doesn't have enough authorization in BW to view queries.

Refer to my screenshot.

Dear Shabnam,

Thanks for the reply, i am creating the connection through universe not IDT. And for your information my report is running fine in browser, am getting this problem only in WebI tool.

Rithika.
