Best method to transfer employee to other department

Hi Experts

I am on BPC 10 SP06 & I am working on HR planning where employee can be transfer to other department ex: Joy will be transferred from SALES to IT department on 02/02/2014.

Now to achieve which is the best method ->

Method 1)Store the new department in the comments table & on 02/02/2014 run a BADI which will pick up value from comments & update cube.

or

Method 2)When user submit new department details then store it in the attributes of EMPLOYEE master data (ex:NEW_DEPARTMENT & TRANSFER_DATE attribute) and use this info to update cube on 02/02/2014

I am ok ok in BADI so not sure which method is easy & better.

Thanks!!

    Hi,

you can consider use the datasource dimension with members like transfer_in/transfer_out to save your planning data, which could then also reflect employee status.

when reporting you should just exlude transfer_out out of your datasource hierarchy.

      Hi Xiaojun

Actually I used datasrc dimension in hr model but was not sure how to achieve this but your push helped to get it.

For my scenario i will use transfer date to trigger badi which will modify datasrc dimension.

      Thanks!!

    Hi,

I would recommend the usage of time depending hierarchies. Here you can define such a scenario.

    Best regards,

      Hi Karsten

This is a eye opener & thanks for sharing info.

But due to technical thing our BPC is on SP06 package & time dependent hierarchy is available from SP09.

Anyways thanks for your valuable info.
