Hello Simon,

Web Intelligence is a relational reporting product and will always have challenges with true hierarchies.

"Expand to level" is something Web intelligence is not offering.

Web Intelligence will always have limitations.

take a  look here:

http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-42435

http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-43778

http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-43779

If you wanna be able to really use hierarchies you need to take a look at the Analysis products.

Hi Ingo, If the WebI is relational reporting product, and Analysis Products
are more geared towards OLAP Reporting, is it fair statement that Analysis
Products should be default tool to work against SAP BW (OLAP) ? I know we can
do lot of stuff with WebI against SAP BW and there are lots of organizations
using WebI, however there some limitations against OLAP and in typical SAP landscape,
the use of Hierarchies is inevitable.

On other hand, I think, even Analysis Tool are certain limitation like RRI,
Schedule, Security etc. I know these are being addressed with every release of
newer versions, SP/FP etc.

In any new SAP implementation, it could be confusing to end user (who have
limited knowledge of SAP Products in general), to tell that for such 'features'
use WebI and for other use Analysis.

Hello Sharma,

yes - Analysis Office and Analysis OLAP should be your default choice assuming your source is SAP BW or SAP HANA.

Web Intelligence can be used - but you should be aware of all the limitations and those limitations are something that won't change as the nature of the product is relational and not multidimensional / analytical.

Analysis does support RRI

Analysis Office also supports scheduling

Security is always SAP BW - BI Authorization.
