Hello Experts,
If I have an InfoObject called Customer and another Profit center, and my goal is to build a Customer Profit center, do I create the hierarchy on the the Customer Infoobject, Profit Center InfoObject or it does not matter where the Hierarchy is created.
An exmaple in your explanation will help.
Thanks.
Hi Amanda,
From what I understand you want to build a hierarchy with Customer as a parent node and Profit center as a child node, like
Customer
-
> Profit Center
In that case I believe you would have to create the hierarchy at the Customer InfoObject level, and to do that you would have to include Profit center InfoObject as an External Characteristic in the hierarchy tab of Customer Characteristic.
You would create it at Profit Center InfoObject level if the hierarchy is like
Profit Center
-
> Customer
which is not what you would like to achieve(as understood by me).
I hope you are aware of the methodology for creating a hierarchy with multiple infoObjects, if you need help on the same let me know.
Hope it helps.
Cheers
Anurag

Hi Amanda,
As in my earlier post, if you want to build a hierarchy with Customer as a parent node and Profit center as a child node, like
Customer
-
> Profit Center
You would have to
1. go to Customer InfoObject in change mode,
2. Navigate to the hierarchy tab of Customer Characteristic
3. Click the button External characteristic in Hierarchies
4. Include Profit center InfoObject as an External Characteristic here.
5. Activate the customer infoobject
Having done the above, now it will allow you to select the Profit center InfoObject while creating a hierarchy on Customer InfoObject.
Hope it helps.
Cheers
