Cutover from ECC 6.0 to EWM 9.0 with open documents

We have migrated from ECC WM to EWM 9.0.  Is there a way to manage the open documents (like deliveries and shipments) that were created in ECC prior to connecting EWM?

We developed custom program to fill the warehouse number for open delivery document after the plant & storage location is converted to EWM managed warehouse.

If possible, could you share your custom program. This helps everybody to understand, how to resolve the issue in future.

We have report with selection as outbound / Inbound deliveries.

1.Report calls the BDC program which performs below functions

1.Open the delivery in change mode

2.Save the delivery

During saving of delivery document ,BADI [New Implementation] is called which goes through series of checks like checking plant & storage location on the line item, delivery status etc].If all the checks are passed then the program would fill the warehouse number [based on Plant + storage assignment to warehouse no.] on the delivery header and sets the distribution status as relevant to EWM i.e. A.

Few  details on the BADI

Defination Name - LE_SHP_DELIVERY_PROC

Interface Name - IF_EX_LE_SHP_DELIVERY_PROC

Method - SAVE_DOCUMENT_PREPARE

It depends on business process requirement on the approach for open documents, whether to clean up [delete or process] all the open document before migrating to EWM  as Serhan suggested or a development to distribute and process open document in EWM and use it for all Roll outs.

Hello Serhan,

Thanks for your response.

Yes, we are using the same storage location in EWM as we had in our WM.

The delivery status has not been distributed to EWM yet.  We are looking to understand options for how to process these existing documents that were open prior to us going live on EWM when they have not been distributed.

Any insight is appreciated!

Regards,

Carrie

Hello Carrie,

It's good news, but remember: Do not use same storage location while migrating from WM to EWM. You might have problems like this if you do so. More problems occur if you forget a material stock at IM level. (My first experience )

Now, first option is to change storage locations of deliveries. They must not be locked as you said not distributed. But this is risky if you changed master data after migration. Which is really hard to solve as it gets stucked in queue.

Second option is what i recommend: Delete deliveries not shipments. Shipments are not related(if you are not using TM integration) to EWM. And recreate deliveries again, assign to shipments.

Best regards

Hello Carrie,

Did you use same storage location for EWM warehouse as your WM?

What is delivery status? It must not be distributed? Or did you distribute deliveries, too?

Give some more details, so i may help further.

Best regards

Serhan
