CDS log not breaking in parts of Nakisa Org modeler

Hi Experts,

In Nakisa org modeler server the file size of CDS log file is so huge that disk is almost full. This CDS file was supposed to split in 3MB files but it is not happening, we checked the log properties of the file in server and it seems it should split in 3MB but it is currently one single big file.

Any help is much appreciated.

Regards,

Rahul

    Hi Rahul,

In the Java versions if you try to change the CDS.log file directly while the application is running it does not change the file size. You need to clear it in the AdminConsole (if you are on a later release such as 3.0 SP3) or stop the application, delete/modify the CDS.log, and then start the application.

    Best regards,

    Luke

      Hi Rahul,

If the logs are not splitting automatically, maybe you can try redirecting the logs to the NetWeaver log as described in section "18.8 Logs and SAP NetWeaver" of the Admin Guide. You will probably have more control over the size and archiving settings of the log files through NWA.

      Best regards

    Hi Rahul,

Which exact settings are you using to break the file into 3MB chunks?

    Thanks

      Hi Matthew,

I am not really sure, how this setting is configured but in org modeler server I was able to see in log.properties file where it was mentioned that max file size is 3MB. Nobody.Nobody is sure that how that log.properties file was configured and that is the issue.

I wanted to know that how can we configure CDS log files to split automatically in a desired size. Can it be configured in admin console or in server? I need to know the exact steps to do the same.

      Regards,

      Rahul

    Rahul.

I've been investigating this issue in OrgChart with one of our clients. The log properties indicated that the file should be archived every 3 MB and a new one started; but the log file for both 'online' use and for the extract job both grew past the specified 3 MB.

I found that manually triggering a log roll (from the log manager in AdminConsole) freed things up and the log files then began anew and archived every 3 MB. Nakisa were unable to reproduce the behaviour, but I suspect that this behaviour is not isolated and that this initial manual intervention might well work for others.

    Regards,

    Stephen.
