Material vs Article(IS Retail)

Hi,

We are in both Manufacturing and retailing business and we use only one instance for both regular SAP and IS retail. We want to keep our Material and batch numbers the same all over the place.

we have separate plants/sites for manufacturing and Retail.  Is there a way to achieve this?

Doing so I will end up with different numbers for both materials and articles.

Hi,

   As of my knowledge, you can very well use material as well as article parallelly in SAP Retail. Use the same MM01 for material creation and MM42 for article. You may have different number ranges for material and article. The material / article will be supported based on the particular business functions (ERP / IS Retail)

I believe accessing both Manufacturing and retailing not possible in one system.If you want to use Retail process (Article and Sites) you need to activate the system as a retail system.

Refer sap note : 1075202.
