I/O Error

Former Member

Hi,

We have a SAP custom transaction. When we run this transaction is web browser using WebGui service (ITS Based), the system open the custom transaction and when we click on a button then system starts giving the I/O error. I have Java installed on my machine but even then I am getting this error. Can anybody tell me how to fix the error.

This is the same error which you get -  when you run a ALV report transaction in a web browser and try to download the list to excel. You will also get I/O error in that case.

Is this something related to security certificate?

Please let me know.

Thanks,

I am still getting this error. Anybody who has worked in this scenario. I am trying to access custom SAP Transaction from SAP GUI For HTML - ITS based which saves a file on front end machine.

In this process I am getting a warning pop up which says "I/O ERROR". When I click OK then functionality wise its working fine and saves the file on front end machine. The FM which is used to download the file is WS_DOWNLOAD.

Any idea how to get rid of this IE error popup.

Thanks,

Hello

Why don't you raise an OSS message and get this clarified with the support ?

As this is a custom program there will be limited support from SAP. But I would get hold of the developer and make him find where the problem is.

So either some thing is happening while switching the url between portal to backend webgui or the configuration of the iview on the portal is not correct. Hope used the same id and same alv report to do the above test .

Thanks for your help. Actually we are not running this sap transaction in portal. Its running in SRS(SAP Retail Store).

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_470/helpdata/en/fb/89ef37516fdb2be10000009b38f842/content.htm

SRS is a browser based solution for SAP Retails stores. It uses ITS. We are calling a SAP Transaction from this SRS.

I have tried to do web debugger but still not getting any pointer to fix it.We have some ALV reports in SRS and we are able to download the data for those ALV reports. The problem is with this transaction. This transaction saves a file on local machine.

One more thing - if we run the same transction in Chrome browser then we are not getting this I/O Error.

(The problem is Not solved yet)

Hi,

Only thing that i can say that is to open a message with sap. But if it is some thing custom developed then sap might not help you. But can still check with them.

Thanks

Can you please check with the developer that want is ZWOSM doing as this is being called in the process.

One more thing can you please check if the compatibility-mode is switched on in the IE.

What is the java version that is running on your PC.

Try to go in the backend run webgui and then try to generate some report and see if you can download it.

Thanks

Hi Rishi,

Thanks for the help. Please find below my answers to your questions;

Can you please check with the developer that want is ZWOSM doing as this is being called in the process.

Could you please explain it more what do you meant by this? What you want me to ask from developer?

One more thing can you please check if the compatibility-mode is switched on in the IE.

I changed it and make it on but still getting the same error.

What is the java version that is running on your PC.

I am on the latest java version. Version 7 Update 45. (build 1.7.0_45-b18)

Try to go in the backend run webgui and then try to generate some report and see if you can download it.

I ran a ALV report via webgui and I am able to download the file with out having I/O error.

The problem is not solved yet.

Thanks,

What i meant to say was to check the developer how portal is configured and why is this ZWOSM called.

These both thinks look ok.

If it is an issue with IE then how are you able to download the report directly using webgui. So either some thing is happening while switching the url between portal to backend webgui or the configuration of the iview on the portal is not correct. Hope used the same id and same alv report to do the above test .

Thanks Reagan. We are also working on appying the security certificate. But in parallel i want to know if someone has already worked in this scenario and can help me out if its not due to security certificate.

Thx.

Hi All,

Thanks for your responses. Attached are the screenshots which I am getting. The fucntionlity is working fine the only problem is - we are getting so many popups due to some reasons. Attached are the three popups which I get.

This issue is in SRS (SAP Retail Store) and we call a custom SAP transaction in this SRS screen. SRS is a browser based module.

So the problem is whenever system is trying to interact with front end system e.g. try to download something into local machine like download to excel function etc...we get this error.

Again, we have not applied the security certificate on our dev envoirnement. Is it becuase of that? Or any other reason?

Thanks,

Why don't you apply the security certificate on the system and see if that helps.

Hi,

This is a java issue.

Follow the below steps.

  1. Un-install all the java versions that are there on that machine.
  2. restart the PC.
  3. Now run the IE and then go in the webgui.
  4. It will say that you don't have java version on that pc. Then try to go to java.com and download and install the java in there.
  5. Then Restart the PC and run the webgui again.
  6. Hope the issue would be fixed.

Can you please let me know the IE version that you are using.

Thanks

Hi,

This is very basic info . Have you tried on different PC to see if its a PC issue or sap issue or user issue. Try to change the browser also and check if it works.

Second thing have you tired to run http watch trace and see where the IO error start so that we can trace the url and the service in the backend.

Thanks
