PI Support- Help Required

Former Member

Hi Guys,

I'm new to PI and I've been asked to provide support for a 2+ year old project containing scenarios involving Idoc, RFC,File, SFTP, and Mail with around 70-80 interfaces.

Can anybody please inform me about the Roles and Responsibilities that a Support guy needs to take care of...

(Since I'm new to PI all inputs are appreciated )

Best Regards,

Dan.

Hi Dan,

This may vary from project to project and client to client. However I can touch on the broader points here.

As a first step, there should be a knowledge transfer to you for the interfaces you need to support in the landscape. Then you should be provided a list based of business critical and SLAs(Service level agreement) in your project.

You should be provided access to all relevant systems in the landscape (not only PI).

If there is a Incident management tool in your project, you should get familiar with that.

You should be monitoring the system for errors (in ABAP stack and Java stack) and reporting back the errors to process team.

You may also need to investigate if these are development bugs, data issues, Basis issues or process issues and report them accordingly. If it is in PI system, you probably (depending upon the process in your project) would be required to act as a focal point and coordinate resolution. You may also be required to fix the development bugs or do enhancements for new requirements.

Broadly, this is going to be your job, however, I would recommend to get in touch with Project manager or AMS PI Lead and understand what exactly are you required to do.

Cheers,

Ambrish
