Do I need to reload data after removing SID generation from DSO ?

No need to Reload the data after removing the SID generation, if you run the report on top up SDSO

select the SID generation, other wise no need.

if you create cube and multi provider on top up SDSO then run the report on multiprovider.

Hi Pawan,

If there is no reporting exists on respective DSO then you can remove SID generation setting.

As it impact Query running performance.

It will not impact next coming delta data. You don't need to reload the data.

There is no need to drop or reload the data ...you are just changing the setting of DSO.

Transformations and DTP will not be affected with this action.

Once the changes are done collect the DSO into TR and transport the same till Production ...

FYI:

If you are on BW 7.3x you have 3 options ...

Create SID's

1) During reporting  - if you select this option in future if you build any reports on top of this DSO at the time of reporting SIDs will be generated

2) During Activation - this setting is what u have for Standard DSO

3) Never Create SIDs - this will never create SIDs.

Better way to learn BW is give a try in Sand box system or in TBD to get clear picture how it behaves...if any are not confident create a copy of a DSO and load the data and change the settings after loading and activation of Data is done.

Assuming as DSO just for staging and no reporting on dso.

in that case better to remove sid settings.

No, Not required. Once you remove settings of SID Activation, next load on wards there is no sid of your info objects(which are part of dso) and improves your loading performance.

Definitely not required. If you have no reporting on the DSO it's even better if you switch it of for load performance reasons.

Hi,

You do not need to reload the data..After un-marking that check box only thing is SID will not be generated during data load but in case if you are reporting on that DSO then SID will be generated while running the reports so it indeed hamper the reporting performance.
