Installed SolMan 7.1 SPS upg 1 to 8: DDIC_IMPORT phase stuck

Hi Experts

We have recently installed Solution manager 7.1 SR1. We have upgraded SPAM version to 7.02/0051. Started Support pack stack upgrade to SPS 08.

Upgrading using SPAM. Upgrade stuck in 11th phase DDIC_IMPORT.

In Component ST

Support/Installation Package

SAPKITL706              ST 710: SP 0006 -- Was imported successfully.

SAPKITL707              ST 710: SP 0007-- RC 8

SAPKITL708              ST 710: SP 0008-- RC 8

Both show error: Test Import ended with (8) Ended with error.

Function AGS_BPCA_GET_INTERSCTION_INFO (AGS_BPCA_API 03) does not fit into the existing function group ((AGS_BPCA_RESULT 01))

Batch Job OCS_QUEUE_IMPORT is still running.

But Action Log shows: Import phase 'DDIC_IMPORT' (19.11.2013, 23:48:09)

And in Back ground Work process (SM50),

Hi Tom and Yong,

I was waiting for the job OCS_QUEUE_IMPORT to be finished, finally it did get terminated and showing us options Continue and log below in SAINT screen.

Showing in dump: SAPKKITL708.D24

4 ETW000      table DSH_CATEGORY: entry in DB is 20 bytes smaller than in file.

4 ETW000      ... ignoring such differences.

3WETW109 table "ESR_DIS_RULE_CFG" does not exist in nametab.

3WETW109 table "ESR_VALUE_CONV" does not exist in nametab.

3WETW109 table "ESR_VAR_DEF" does not exist in nametab.

4 ETW000      table SMCONFIGJOBS: entry in DB is 40 bytes smaller than in file.

4 ETW000      ... ignoring such differences.

3WETW109 table "/IWFND/C_DFSYAL" does not exist in nametab.

3WETW109 table "/IWFND/C_DFSYALT" does not exist in nametab.

3WETW109 table "/IWFND/C_MGDEAM" does not exist in nametab.

3WETW109 table "/TMWFLOW/RISK" does not exist in nametab.

3WETW109 table "AIC_UI_POPUP" does not exist in nametab.

3WETW109 table "CDC_CONV_TYPE" does not exist in nametab.

4 ETW690 COMMIT "0" "0"

4 ETW000 199982416 bytes read.

4 ETW000 Disconnected from database.

4 ETW000 End of Transport (0008).

4 ETW000 date&time: 19.11.2013 - 22:56:14

4 ETW000 55 warnings occurred.

4 ETW000 1 error occurred.

1 ETP152 TESTIMPORT

1 ETP110 end date and time   : "20131119225614"

1 ETP111 exit code           : "8"

As the status of import is showing terminated. Can we implement this note: 0001680583  -  Field names for tables and views with more than 16 char.??

Can we implement it now and just tap continue??

Will SPS upgrade start from where it was terminated.??

If it continues like that, I have a doubt here.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

- Already the Support/Installation Packages ended with Return Code: 008.

SAPKITL707 ST 710: SP 0007 & SAPKITL708 ST 710: SP 0008

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How can both be imported again without any errors. Could you pl suggest these any way out..

Vyjayanth M

Im sry I could not upload any image to give better clarity on the issue, as this page is showing different error.

And adding up to the existing situation:

Reason for error: TP_INTERFACE_FAILURE: The tp interface could not be called.

Hi Vyjayanth M

Try updating the kernel for the TP_INTERFACE_FAILURE error.

A question:

Did you perform post processing of SP1 (SOLMAN_SETUP, central note for SAP Solution Manager, ...) after installation before going to SP8?

I really recommend to do the post processing after installation - configuration of basic functionality on SAP Solution Manager before proceeding to further patching.

Are those lines marked as warning "does not exist in nametab"? Because your log states 1 error only.

If your system is in a state in which it's possible, you should be able to install a SAP note and hit continue.

When you press continue in SAINT, the system will be aware of the failed attempt to install SAPKITL707 and should automtically start there again (attempting the same thing again).

Best regards

Hi,

Just read the below note care fully and see if it suits you.

1900549 - Add-on Installation fails due to inactive nametab

Hi Vyjayanth

Just to answer your answer: Will SPS upgrade start from where it was terminated.??

Yes, at least it started from where it was terminated during SPS update on my system.

Solution for the errors as below:

Somehow, the SAINT magically proceeded without error, after I put it on hold for two days and then resumed it.  I reckon it could be related to program cache.

Errors:

"

Error details Extracted from "Test Import" phase in log SAPPITL707.DS1:

Function MDX_EXE_CORE (AGS_DVM_MDX 02) does not fit into the existing function group ((AGS_DVM_WC 05))

Error details Extracted from "Test Import" phase in log SAPPITL708.DS1:

Function AGS_BPCA_GET_INTERSCTION_INFO (AGS_BPCA_API 03) does not fit into the existing function group ((AGS_BPCA_RESULT 01))

"

By the time I'm writing this post, SPS8 upgrade has been completed on my system. Just for your reference:

1. I didn't performane the configuration (Solman_Setup) after the initial installation

2. At DDIC Activation Stage, the SAINT went to infinite loop. It was resolved via SNC post: http://scn.sap.com/thread/3323740

I have the exactly same error while updating Solman 7.1 SPS8 by using SAINT. And I'd like to confirm that SAP note: 1680583 - Field names for tables and views with more than 16 char is installed before the SAINT started.

Error details Extracted from "Test Import" phase in log SAPPITL707.DS1:

Function MDX_EXE_CORE (AGS_DVM_MDX 02) does not fit into the existing function group ((AGS_DVM_WC 05))

Is there any chance to

- How to Restart the upgrade from the same phase.

- Do we kill the batch job and start over again?

Your suggestion are required and highly appreciated.

Hi Vvjayanth

The error could be related to this SAP note:

1680583 - Field names for tables and views with more than 16 char.

Check if you can apply this SAP note first, then kill the job (clean up properly - check that the work process also stops hanging or kill it otherwise) and restart the DDIC_IMPORT from SPAM.

I would expect SPAM to pick up again where it left off (restarting that phase).

Best regards

Tom
