Hi experts,
I've now recognized, that I get a lot of SM21 connection errors in Solution Manager if a satelite system is down.
The errors seems to come from technical monitoring, as this is still trying to connect to system (DB and ABAP-stack).
So my question is, how can I avoid error messages like this?
Because, also if I check the work-mode "downtime" I guess the checks in Technical monitoring will/can be contiuned and so the errors will still appear.
Kind regards
Hi Christian
You have to maintain the workmode settings in your Workmode management configuration .And whenever , when the satelitte system is going for down , you have to update the IT calander . This will avoid the unwanted errors and mails floating because of technical monitoring .
Let me know if it helps .
regards
Bala

Hi Bala,
no, it doesn't.
Because I am already in download mode and if I open the technical monitor (graphic-overview) I have red-lines near the system.
So the systems nows, that it is not available.
But in Solman I still get SM21 error - especially GATEWAY errors in SMGW from user SM_EFWK.
You know further tips?
Hi Chris,
Technical monitoring in the " work mode " state, you will not get any alert in the time interval.
But the data collection will happen parallel, also if the system shows red, mean some issue in the system but not down.if the work mode is set will help the admin know the system status(maintanance mode).
Once the mode change to normal, will get the alert. So there is not changes in the data collection in the solman system.
Also post the screen shot so it will help to under the issue clearly.

Hi Karthik,
yes you are right and I know what you mean.
But I get a lot of error entries in SM21 in solman and especially in SMGW-Trace (Gateway).
Because a lot of RFC-connections (I think read-activies from solman to managed system) fails, as the managed system is not available.
And I would like to avoid this entries in SM21.
You know what I mean?
Thx
Hi Chris,
Please check the below note for Gateway and Message Server Security settings
1444282 - gw/reg_no_conn_info settings
Also e check the below note is relevant for your issue
1856736 - Warning message "<User> deletes RFC destination <...>" in the system log
Rg,
Karthik
I have a lot of messages like this:
16:30:48 RD SM_EFWK Q0 I Operating system call connect failed (error no. 239 )
And as mentioned, in SMGW-> Trace I have a lot of RFC-Connections to the managed system, which is down.
This would be ok.
But what I don't like is the error-messages in SM21.
What about your technical monitor, if a managed system is not available.
Is it also creating a lot of error messages in SM21?
Thx
Hi,
