Hello,
Our company is creating a new AD domain to consolidate all of our existing domains. I opened a case with SAP to see how to add this second domain into BPC. The analyst supplied me with the Server Manager guide and I have followed it. Now both domains show up in the Add New User list. However, if I select the new domain I get the error "the specified domain either doesn't exist or couldn't be contacted."
I talked to our server guys, and they said there is a two way trust between the old and new domain. I've had the app server rebooted. The SAP analyst is starting to back off the case saying this is outside the realm of the support agreement. I don't know AD very well so it's possible I configured the entry wrong.
Any ideas? I'll be happy to supply more details.
Hi Jonathan,
never seen it. It seems a MS SQL error, search on MS site with you SQL version, e.g. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/21078f44-79e0-482d-80e3-548ede9afd2b/the-specified-...
Regards
Roberto

Hello Roberto,
I had a chance yesterday to spend some time googling this error message and SQL Server 2008 (our version). I did not find any relevant results. This really does not seem to be a database issue.
As a workaround, I have inserted a few records into Appserver.tblappsetaccess and (ourappset).tblusers. These records are user accounts on our new domain. As a result, I can now load the main web page while logged in under the new domain. I still have some testing to do to make sure all of BPC's functionality is the same as before.
Based on my results, I believe it to be a BPC or AD issue.
