Persistence service allows no external access to the database

At present, the database can only be accessed from within the application using JDBC or (JPA). It is therefore not possible to use external data administration tools, such as the SAP HANA studio, to manage the application data.

But is this not what the creation of the database tunnel allows?

Because if you have a JDBC application that displays users and their ID's, can you not "tunnel" this data in HANA Studio and maniuplate the results there?
