Changing AWS Accounts

Former Member

I have two sets instances under CAL on AWS to support my openSAP courses.  I would like to have these instances linked to a different AWS account.  As these are largely "canned" instances with most of the content provided the simplest way seems to be to recreate them.  Looking at the CAL UI, I can't activate them twice and I can't change the linked AWS account while I have existing instances.  If I terminate the instances, will I be able to change the linked account and then recreate the instances again?

Thanks

Hi Andrew,

yes, if you terminate your instances, you'll be able to delete your current SAP CAL account and then to create a new one.

Hi Andrew,

Yes the way to have your instances in another account are to first remove the existing one.

SAP CAL Test Drive Center support only one account at a time.

Thanks for the replies

I have terminated the instance and linked to my new AWS account.

I was able to recreate the instances through the wizard but on completion of that process the instance status shows as "Not authorized for images".

Hi Andrew,

Just checked that your new account did not get authorized for the image after you changed the AWS keys. Could you please delete your account and then create a new one instead of editing the existing one?

I had to deactivate the solutions before it would allow me to delete the account.  I created a new account linked to the new AWS account.  I am still getting an error when I try to create the instance but now it is "key pair blah blah does not exist

Sorry, forgot to mention that the instance creation process brought up the window for generating key pair but it never got focus and disapperared

I think it may have just timed out.  Tried again and it looks promising now.  Will leave an update if it completes

Thx
