Migration from BOE 4.0 to 4.1 - How to keep audit data?

Hello - I will be installing a new instance of BOE 4.1.  I want to keep my audit data from my 4.0 instance (eventually when I get to production).  Is there a preferred way that I can migrate or keep audit data from my 4.0 instance?  I would assume that there would be some changes in audit database structure from 4.0 to 4.1...

Kind regards,

Kelly

There is no migration path for the audit DB from one version to another. You should be able to simply point 4.1 to the same Audit DB to be able to access older data.

Hello Denis - I am not sure I understand.  If I point the new instance to the old database...there may be updates from the new instance to the old database.  Is it a fact that there are no changes (no field changes, no additional fields) to the new 4.1 audit database?

Kind regards,

Kelly

you can take a look at the 4.1 and 4.0 Audit DB structures and see for yourself if they are different.

If they are different - simply have 2 sets of audit universes, one for historical data from 4.0 audit DB, second for current data from 4.1 DB.

p.s.

As far as I know the DB structures should be same, but I haven't compared them.

Agree with . You could even create a new UNX which has two connections: one to the old 4.0 Audit DB and one to the new 4.1 audit database.

And there should be no difference between the 4.0 and the 4.1 structure (major update was done in 4.0) of the audit database.

There is a nice article here http://scn.sap.com/community/semantic-layer/blog/2013/10/07/updating-audit-universe-40-to-41 which describes the changes that need to be made to the existing audit universe making it work to the new datasource (should you have one).

Hope that helps.
