Decimal data in Information Design Tool

Hi Experts,

I'm using a decimal number from BW (decimal 6) in the IDT universe and the data returned only has 2 decimal places (see attached)

Environment:

BW 7.3

IDT 4.0

Thank you

Gerrie

Hi Gerrie,

In IDT, right click on the Object and choose "Edit Display Format" and change or create a custom format or use any of the existing formats to have the desired output.

Thanks

Hi Raghu,

Thanks for the quick response but I tried that earlier without success. It displays up to the third decimal and then only displays zeros after that (see attached)

Are you using the JCO connection type for the universe?  Why you are not using the BICS (which is normally recommended)if you have the BEx query already as the JCo will be really slow.

Hi Gerrie,

Try creating a custom format and then associating it with the object in IDT.

Thanks

Hi Durgamadhab,

We have multiple universes that we use in Webi and merge the dimensions from multiple queries. If we use the BEx queries all the dimensions are converted to text and merging is very tedious. The decimal measures is correct using BEx.

Is there any way to fix this issue in IDT?

We have a workaround by multiplying the measures in BW but it's no ideal.

PS: We don't have performance issues using IDT and BW

Thank you

Hi Raghu,

Can you please explain what you mean by "creating a custom format" and how. Is this the same as creating a display format?

There appears to be a issue with the RFC connection interface which is restricting the values to decimal two.

Also this may be a known issue which has a ADAPT  (ADAPT01533483)

Please check the release note for that ADAPT below and see if the issue

https://websmp205.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_FRAME=CONTAINER&_OBJECT=011000358700001253212012E

Try these resolution steps to see if it helps..

Configure the Business Objects services on your Windows server to run under a user that belongs to the

local BI administrators group that has the EN_US locale set in its profile.

- Update the LocalSystem account to have this profile setting.

This is a known problem of Web Intelligence running on an international (for example, German) version of Windows.

Also

To resolve the issue, ensure that the Locale and regional settings for the account used to run the Server

Intelligence Agent (SIA) service is set to en_US (US English). Restart the SIA service after modifying these

settings for the changes to take effect.

Yes, I'm sure Raghu meant Display format when he said Custom format.

Are you running in a international (for example, German) version of Windows? If that is correct its a know problem in WebI..

The display format only increases the zeros after the decimal but does not fix the problem.

I'm having a similar issue - I am doing an extract of the month from a date field and it comes out as 1.0, 2.0, etc.   I tried doing the custom format, but then it won't display the values, it just shows the field name.
