Extract PSA Data to a Flat File

Former Member

Hello,

I would like to download PSA data into a flat file, so I can load it into SQL Server and run SQL statements on it for analysis purposes. I have tried creating a PSA export datasource; however, I can find way to cleanly get the data into a flat structure for analysis and/or download.

Can anyone suggest options for doing this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sincerely,

Sonya

Hi,

You can goto PSA maintenance. Select List => Save => File.

It has five different file options.

RB,

All of my options under List->Save are grayed out? Do you have any suggestions on why these options are not available to me? What do I need to have done to enable them?

Thanks,

Sonya

Hi Sonya,

In teh PSA screen try pressing Shift and F8. If this does not bring up the file types then you can try the following: Settings > Chnage Display Variants > View tab > Microsoft Excel > Click SAP_OM.xls and then the green check amrk. The data will be displayed in excel format which you can save to your PC.

Hope this helps...

Sonya,

You get list at two place, one under the system which has all save grayed out, another as the first manu option. You can use the first one to download data.

That works. Thanks! Now all I have to figure out is a good packet size.

I discovered another way of saving PSA data directly to a file. Click on "List" (first item on the menu selection list at the top of the screen), then click on the second "Save" (for save as), and then choose the "File" option and enter the requested info on where to save the file.

Wow...

That's the way I have suggested to you.

To clarify, there are 6 menu options at the very top of the screen in the PSA window: List, Edit, GoTo, Settings, System, and Help. You suggested going through the "Settings" menu option, which is the method we use when saving data in R3. However, in our BW 3.5 installation, it is necessary to go through the "List" menu option in order to save PSA data to a file.

May be I was not clear but in my second post I mentioned both "List" and asked to use the first menu option. (By mistake I typed that manu). Even in the first post I started with "List=>" that means you have to click on list first. Anyway its good that your problem is solved.
