how to change status of colums in system forms?

If I open a system form like 'Sales Order' I can set different colums to visible and active by the form setting.

Is there any way to do so with the UI API?

I want to have a special column visible and active to enter data to it. Maybe there is even a way to enter information to a invisible inactive columns field?

In the 2005 version you will have the possibility to define form preferences by using the FormPreferencesService inside the DI API.

You can have a look to the HelpFile of the DI API to see what are the possibilities of this service.

    • Its correct that 2005 support formsetting preferences, but be aware that it gives access to all columns. Also hidden columns that one might use for system keys, and there are no way to make these not editable.

I would say that this so far have made FormSettingsPreference useless since you almost all the time have some hidden columns that no matter what should stay hidden.

What I do is i make my own configuration window on which columns should be active.
