SUM activation to a storage type after GO-live

HI All,

We have typical situation at client . We have activated SU management for a particular storage type after Go-live and while stock is existing in some bins of the storage type. Since then we are not able to move stock away from that storage type. Transfer is getting created and deleted. We get two kind of messages to our inbox

1.) Storage unit is not existing (even though storage type in SU managed, present stock doesn't SU number for it)

2) While creating Transfer order destination quant generated is an existing quant in the system and Transfer gets created and deleted.

did you expect that SAP creates automatically storage units for the existing stock when you activate Storage unit management?

I think you actually created an inconsistence, after activation SAP checks for SU numbers in any movement from this storage type. As your old quants do not have a storage unit number they are a kind of dead now.

yes that was a unfortunate and happened. Please let me know how to handle this situation and what to do with that stock ?

How did you do that at all?

This info is very important to make a suggestion

SAP usually gives error  LT152 SU Management cannot be changed  if there is any quant in a storage type when you try to switch on/off SUM.

We have advised not keep any stock in storage type before changes and everything was cleaned. our transports move on weekend . unfortunately on friday night some received stock in to those bins . by the time we realised transports reached production and we are in problem.

I guess you have now a mixed situation. stock with and without SU in this storage type.

If it was possible to activate it via a customizing transport, then I assume the reversal is also possible this way.

After deactivation you should only move those quants with SU number to an interim storage type, then activate it again and putaway those quants again. SAP should then create the SU number.

However, since I never had this situation, nor have it tested, you need to do this text in your QA system. And you should keep an eye on the stock that has already SU, to avoid that this is somehow affected.

Maybe you should consider to contact SAP support  in this matter.
