Dear All,
In our BW system i have seen some DTPs which are delta in nature are loading data from change log to non sap systems like open Hub.
I was wondering why load from change log through a delta DTP ? Would there be any difference in data quality/consistency if i load delta from active table..I could not figure out any difference. Then why load from change log using delta DTP .your view please...
PS:Data load is to Open Hub system

Nayab

Hi Nayab,
As per my understanding, why our data loading considering change log table, even our DTP which fetches delta records.
Please find my suggestion:
The main objective of change log table is track the changed and new records for delta updates to Info Cube. As we know DSO active table is overwrite and Info Cube is additive. Due to this later if you find any any issues in delta loadings to Info Cube, we can do that load again from change log table of DSO.
If you want to do that load from active table, then you need to load entire data. we will store the old records in change log table for back up purpose. We will delete change log table once in 15 days or 1 months (depends on business requirement)

Hi,
When we use extraction mode as delta, your loads automatically loaded thru change-log table only.
First dtp itself you ran delta mode, so first time it loads as full load and enables delta. next load onwards it fetches data from change log table only(you selected or not doesn't matter).
Another way of init:
First time we load full load and extraction mode as full from active table without archive.
Now we need to do init by suing below steps:
Extraction mode as delta
Execution tab processing mode as :no data transfer, delta status in source, fetched; run your dtp. So now your dtp init was success. next you want change processing mode to serially extraction; immediate parallel processing, select change log table. run your delta dtp.
You can search on google you will get good PDF doc. use search term as " working with DTP 7.0".
Thanks
Hi,
If you know purpose of change-log then you can understand easily.
Chang log holds all delta images/changed records history. But where in active tables it won't and it overwrites the existing records. so we can't see the changed records history at active table.
Delta - means capturing changed records/newly crated records from last load.
so we need to load delta loads from Chang log table only.
for full loads we can load from active table only.
Thanks

Hi Nayab,
Any deltas from DSO will be happened from Change-log only to Cubes or OHDs. If you want to upload Active table data, you have to do Full load.

This would never happen. I think you are refering your DTP extraction tabradio buttons of Active table without archive etc.. Please observe that setting is to run delta for the very first time to Cube from a DSO. Subsequently your delta will be picked from Change-log only. This is SAP standard.
