Using ICE to transfer online packages

Former Member

Hi all,

I am new with ICE, so maybe my question is not that complex...

I have setup the ICE online transfer between an EP 6.0 SP 9 (syndicator) and an EP 6.0 SP13 (subscriber), for a simple package tranfer, using the How To document in service.sap.com, the note 883859 and the following guide:

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/35/4cf72bfe18455e892fc53345f4f919/frameset.htm

All the configuration happened without problems. I could see the syndicator and its offers from the subscriber, I could see the subscriber from the syndicator. I could even see ICE activities happening using the Application Log (in the same delivery intervals I selected to the offers). However, the folders I selected for the offers are not being tranfered to the subscriber. I tryed pull and push methods, but no success.

Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Roland,

I do not see errors. I only see the following messages in the subscriber (regular basis):

Info 10/11/05 3:11:21 PM ICE Handle ice-nop request

Info 10/11/05 3:11:21 PM ICE Handling ICE payload

Info 10/11/05 3:11:21 PM ICE Handling HTTP request

Info 10/11/05 3:11:21 PM ICE Handling HTTP request

Info 10/11/05 12:32:20 PM ICE Handling of ICE payload finished

Info 10/11/05 12:32:20 PM ICE Handle ice-nop request

Info 10/11/05 12:32:20 PM ICE Handling ICE payload

And in the syndicator side:

Info 10/11/05 3:53:06 PM ICE Handling of ICE payload finished

Info 10/11/05 3:53:06 PM ICE Handle ice-get-catalog request

Info 10/11/05 3:53:06 PM ICE Handling ICE payload

Info 10/11/05 3:53:06 PM ICE Handling HTTP request

Info 10/11/05 3:53:06 PM ICE Handling HTTP request

However, no content is transfered to the subscriber. Could you please help me?

Thanks in advance

Hi Fernando,

could you pls. check the status of your subscription. You find the status under

Content Exchange > Subscriber > Reg. Syndicators > syndicator-name > subscr. name > Current status

Did you specify some special delivery roles in the offer, like start date, end date, ... or does your offer only have the default update interval?

Hi Roland,

The status of my subscriptions are ICE-INITIAL.

Regarding the delivery roles, initially I used the default config (At Most 20 Minutes). Later I tried other numbers for this same property (like 5 and 10 minutes). Just that...

Thanks

Hi Fernando,

status "ICE-INITIAL" means that the ICE service didn't try to get the content from the syndicator.

As a next step we should check if the schedular service is running on the subscriber (assuming you are using pull): pls. go to System Admin > Monitoring > Knowledge Management > Component Monitor > Services

Is Schedular service state green and what ICE related task do you see in tasks subfolder?

Hi Roland!

Here are the information you requested. Under "Services" I have:

- jobprocessor (green)

- scheduler (green)

- taskqueue (green)

Under "scheduler", I have:

- 31735450 (green)

- ThreadPool (green)

Under "31735450", I have several services. The ones that seems to be related to ICE are:

- DailySubscriptions (green)

- ice_pull_2014e7ab-c11c-2810-32a8-b52c8279e8f1 (green)

- ice_resolve_208778de-b71c-2810-31bb-eb355127facd (green)

- ICETaskQueueReader (green)

Under "taskqueue", I have:

- ICEService (green)

- IndexmanagementService (green)

- jobProcessorQueue-31735450 (green)

- jobStopped-31735450 (green)

- jobSuspended-31735450 (green)

Hope you can continue helping me...

Thanks a lot

Fernando

Hi,

this is OK and how it should be. It's hard to find the problem without access to the system.

Is it possible to increase the log level to DEBUG for the following two packages:

- com.sapportals.wcm.protocol.ice

- com.sapportals.wcm.service.ice

Maybe the DEBUG log output gives us some hints.

Hi Roland,

Unfortunatelly my system got crashed and we are not able to find the issue. Since our Portal was giving lots of errors, we decided to start with a fresh one, using the latest service pack.

It will take some time. Can we continue this thread later, if again I find difficulties when setting the ICE? Could you please send me your email so I can contact you later if I continue having issues.

Thanks for all the help so far!!
