Scheduling Automatic import of Transports

Former Member

Hello All,

is there any function module which does automatic import of transport requests periodically...say every 45 minutes? I know this can be done from SAPGUI and from OS level. I am specifically looking for FM.

Thanks in advance.

Vamsi

Hi Vamsi,

This can be done. But problem is it will import whole import que, what ever is there in the import que of that particular system.

If you still want to do this. then follow below procedure;

- Login to the system where you want to schedule the same

- Go to STMS_import, then click on full import truck symbol

- There you have an option to schedue it. give planned start date/time and no start after date/time. Once scheduled.

- Go to sm37, search for that job. Then change the frequency to 45 mins. thats All.

NOTE: Make sure you have selected correct options while scheduling.

Hope this helps. Please let me know the outcome.

Hi Koshore Soma

Not necessarily as you can schedule in an automatic import job which uses a filter on the TMS import queue.

A good first approach to transport changes when you don't have SAP Solution Manager Change Request Management (CHARM, the better option) available is to use CTS IMG project (also used by CHARM) and assign transport requests to CTS IMG project upon creation.

You can create such a IMG CTS project through transaction SPRO_ADMIN. You need to fill in a few basic things like a title, the language for the IMG project and then you are good to go to enable it for CTS in the tab Transp. Requests you can active CTS for it.

Through customizing you can make a CTS project obligatory to force everyone to assign a transport request to a CTS IMG project. This can be done through transaction SE03 - Display/Change Request Attributes and then having a X in fields Obligatory attribute, Value obligatory and Atribute once for request for attribute SAP_CTS_PROJECT.

Once you have that, you'll be able to filter on column "Project" in STMS and as such, using that filter, you can choose import all and by choosing import all, you have the option to schedule in a job periodically to import your transport requests.

If you use the above properly, meaning you bundle your transport requests in the right CTS IMG project, you can have automatic import running depending on the project. For example for transport security roles, you could have an automatic import job with the filter on the project for security while transport requests belonging to other projects are not being imported automatically.

Hi Vamsi,

As explained by TOM, If you have solman, then do configure CHARM for your systems. You can configured any SAP system in to this (ABAP or JAVA) and configure routes. This is very easy and can be tracked.

Thanks Tom,
