Hello All,
Could you please tell me the exact difference between key and text settings at infoobject level and Query designer level , which one rules .
also i have a case where for 2 infoobject s
there is no description and only key is present
but when setting is changed to key and text at designer level
the 1 st infoobject displays key at both places (key and text place) and
2nd infoobject displays key at keys place and balnk at text place
Could any one please clarify
Thanks in Advancem,
Harshitha

this would typically happen when you're showing "long description" and they're only exists a short description (or the other way around)
(I'm on a pc without BEx right now so these might not be the "exact" words used in the Query Designer, but you get the point I hope )

HI

2nd infoobject displays key at keys place and balnk at text place
Thats how it works if you select "Key & Text" and only the key is present you get "key and key".
Looks like your second infoobject has empty texts present otherwise you would also see the key again.
The settings on your infoobject in the "business explorer" tab define what the setting will be, but once in query designer changes on the infoobject will not be reflected in the query anmore.
hope that clarifies

Hi Harshitha,
This is basic question. You can check help.sap literature on this.
Stage 1 : Setting in Infoobject-->Busniess Explorer tab level
Stage 2 : Setting at Bex Query level
If stage 1 has not been set completely with all checks, you can't play at Query level.
Th fact you get Key in both places for Infoobject 1 is, you might have data as Keys in the text table. You can check via maintain master data. This will display what all has been maintained for that Infoobject.
Similarly with Infoobject 2.

Hi,
info object level and bex level settings are different. at Bex level we can choose to display text or key.
but at info object level we can set which text need to display when we choose as text of related info object.
If your info object doesn't doesn't have text data then its displays only Key even if you selected as display key and text. if you select as text then it will shows as blank at bex level.
Thanks
