    Hi MS,

do you honestly expect a useful reply with that kind of provided information?

    You have not mentioned:

    • Your correct Oracle version (there is no version 11.3)
    • Your OS (incl. used FS)
    • Your used I/O type (asynchronous / synchronous)
    • Your used RMAN backup type (backup set / image file copies, etc.)
    • In case of RMAN backup set - what is the files per set setting?
    • Amount of used RMAN channels and max open files
    • Using Oracle I/O slaves?
    • Transport medium (Network based or LAN Free based backup medium)
    • Capacity of used transport medium and target medium
    • Backup compression?
    • Your RTO

All of this information is essential to suggest anything at all. Please check out my blog just to get an idea about the used I/O types and its impact (and this is just a tiny part): [Oracle] RMAN (backup) performance with synchronous I/O dependent on OS limitations

    Hi,

as your system is having large side i don't know if this will suit you.

Have you tried to take a small backup like few archive logs on you tape library or the target where the backup is currently going .Record the time and then try to run the same backup on a local file system and see.

This might help you to find that the issue is either with the network and the tape library or the target destination.

Have a solution for small system but dont know if your project management will like it or not as there might be cost involved.

Try to have local staging and see it reduces the time and then move the backup to tapes or the original location where the backup was going.

    Thanks
