Hi,
My client is trying to post a reduction in Depreciation through Transaction Code "ABAA". While doing so the system gives an error that "Unplanned depreciation positive in area 01" please also note that system is giving this error for only two assets. for all other assets its working just fine. Please help me out.
Regards,
Kindly try this workaround to avoid error message AA638 :-
Depreciation -> Unplanned depr. -> define deprec. area (OABU)
Select the concerned deprec. areas and verify the flag 'all
values allowed' is selected.
When you set this indicator, this depreciation area allows unplanned
depreciation with positive as well as negative values.

Hello Faizan,
you want to increase the value of Asset or you want to reduce
whether this asset is purchased in Current Year ?

Hello,
As Lisa Zhang said, you can follow that option.
(or) select the Negative values allowed check box in Depreciation area tab in Asset master record for what ever Assets getting error.
Thank you.

thank you for your response guys. There's been a misunderstanding. i do know that ABAA is for posting unplanned depreciation. but there's been a change in the amount calculated by system and what client actually wants to post. for that they are using ABAA and for that he is getting this error as mentioned above.

As Kavita said, please use ABZU for depreciation write up and ABAA is for posting an unplanned depreciation.
Note: You can only write up accumulated / previous years depreciation but not the current year.
Thanks

Hi Faizan,
When you are trying to post a reduction in Depreciation meaning, you want to increase the vaue of the asset.. why are you using ABAA, as that is for unplanned depreciation.. you should be using ABZU and post write up to the asset.
In Depreciation Area settings for unplanned depreciation, we use negative values and Zero Values for Unplanned depreciation.
BR,
Kavita
