Business Objects 4.0 client tools-report conversion tool...

Former Member

Hi,

I've logged into the Report Conversion Tool as an admin (and this admin is a member of the Report Conversion Tool Users group).  I can see the folders that should hold reports (on the legacy system), but each folder is empty.

I've confirmed on the legacy system that reports exist; can anyone tell me what I have to do to make the reports/documents available (here) for conversion?  My expected next step is to move the desired reports to the Selected Document(s) table and run the conversion.

Thanks,

Rick

Hi Rick,

the Report Conversion Tool is used to convert SAP BusinessObjects Desktop Intelligence XI 3.x reports to Web Intelligence 4.0 format. In your screenshot I see Web Intelligence documents on your XI 3.x system.

For this kind of reports you need no RCT. Here is the Upgrad-Management-Tool (server tool) the right tool.

Daniel

good catch Daniel and Agreed with you.

RCT: will be used to covert Deski reports to Webi reports

UMT: Will be used to Migrate the reports from one Version to other version.

Try with UMT to move the reports.

Below is the Document for the same.

Hello Daniel,

I'm facing a problem similar to the above.

I have to convert Deski 3.0 Reports to Webi 4.0, for this I'm using using Report Conversion Tool (RCT) 4.0, but when I logged into RCT it's not showing the Deski reports.
When I logged in to CMC 3.0 I can see all deski reports and also I can see all deski reports from RCT 3.0.

I'm using administrator account for both servers.

3.x server is not in domain.
4.0 server is in domain.

Previously I was not able to connect to source CMS using RCT 4.0, network team opened ports and stopped firewall then only its connecting to source CMS.

For details go through the link below.

Thiru

Hi,

Just a thought: if you are able to use BI 4.1.x then you can use Upgrade Management Tool (UMT) to migrate DeskI .rep documents to the BI4.1 repository (CMS) then use the RCT locally to convert (with a higher rate of successful conversion, because the feature-gap is less in this higher version)

H

Hello Henry,
Can UMT 4.1 upgrades BOXI 3.0 deski?
I think it can't.
Please clarify this doubt.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Per SAP RCT 4.0 and 4.1 does,'t support BOXI 3.0 or earlier versions.

We raised an incident about this issue and SAP replied as mentioned above.

Hello,

lets have a look into the documentation. From the SAP BI 4.1 SP5 Upgrade Guide i can see the following:

So this is a Yes. With the Upgrade Management Tool you can Upgrade from BOE XI 3.0 to SAP BI 4.1 because BOE XI 3.0 is higher as the mentioned BOE XI Rel.2 SP2.

With regarads to the conversion, please follow as Henry described.

-Seb.

Yes, JRK, I've reviewed that doc prior to this task, but in screenshot three, where the open folder contains documents (reports), ours hold none-none of the folders hold anything, and a quick look at the properties of the folders shows the document count to be zero.  That indeed is the crux of our problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Rick

Rick,

Are you using a account with admin access or Administarator account itself? If it's a account with admin access try with Administrator account itself in both places..

What kind of reports you want to convert? Aare they Deski Reports? Deski Reports are supported from 4.1. Not in 4.0

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I'm not sure what kind of reports they are, but here's a screenshot of the legacy BO tool with the reports:

Can you tell from there?

Thanks,

Hi Rick,

PLease let us know your exact requirement as in whether the DESKI reports needs to be converted to WEBI via Report Conversion Tool or just the reports needs to be moved/upgraded from xi 3.x to BI 4.x. As the reports which are tried to be converted are WEBI reports as Daniel mentioned.

Do share your further thoughts so that we can further look into it.

Thanks,

Arun
