PI7.3 Communication Channel name length

For SAP PI7.3.

..

anybody know why in the Eclipse tool the Communication Channel name is restricted to only 25 characters, whereas in the "old" Integration Directory you can enter in 60 characters ?

Hi Jonny,

Good question. We also had issues since our former naming conventions for CC-channels now need to be changed when developing with NWDS. I guess your question can only be answered by SAP development ;-).

Luckily you can still use both tools in PI7.3.  At the moment I have not experienced any problem with the longer name.  But we are only in Development at this stage.

But it is a annoying restriction....  I might upgrade to the newer Eclipse release (I'm only 1 behind) and we'll see if it is fixed.

So I will download what appears to be the latest 8.30.100001.130909125123 SP10 PAT0001

I'll be surprised if it is fixed.

It is fixed. 60 symbols(as I remember).

You may check communication channel table, size of name field

Or you can see service "CommunicationChannelIn" (SAP BASIS 7.31 http://sap.com/xi/BASIS )

Yes my version also says 60.  Problem must be at the Eclipse end.   I'm downloading the latest version (except very slow from my network - it will take days at the moment!).
