Opening Period & Release Period in SMK

Hi Team,

I am in the process of deriving the figure for the Schedule Margin Key (SMK). In SMK we have opening period (time given to MRP controller to convert the planned order to production order(in house prod)/ Purchase Req (External proc) & Release Period (Time given to production supervisor to release the production order). I basically follow the below rule (may be thumb rule 😊) for deriving the figure for "Opening Period".

Q1: For example, in your organization, if the MRP is executed (MD02) two days once, then the "Opening period" will be 2 Days. The frequency of MRP run will be the figure for "Opening Period" Is this right approach?

Q2: Can anyone suggest similar guideline / approach / formula to derive the figure for "Release Period"?
