SAP Library Help

   Hello all,

I would like to install SAP Library Help files of Solution Manager SPS8 Online Help. I have downloaded the SAP Library files from the SAP Service Marketplace. Now it appears I have to use SAPInst to install the library help files, but they come in ".SAR" extension. The questions are:

-- Do I have to use SAPCAR on the ".SAR" files before using SAPInst?

-- Do I have to use SAPInst to install the SAPLibrary Help files or can I use in another way?

-- Do I have to configure transaction SR13 to use the help files?

-- Are there any other form of reading the SAP Help Library without this installations? Online?

  Waiting some of your answers

  Regards

Did you happen to come across this:  http://scn.sap.com/thread/2068904

Also I can confirm that I have not installed these help files and just use the ones online as my Internet usage is not an issue.

I have used this one due to being on SP08, unsure if the SP10 one has been published yet or not:  http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm71_sp08/helpdata/en/45/51fbdbd4941803e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm

And I answer my own question by just switching the sp08 to sp10:  http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sm71_sp10/helpdata/en/d1/0894462a3a455d8b7b4b178a8b6d9b/frameset.htm

Dear Billy

Thank you for your help! I took a look at the help files in the link you sent me. I was looking for something in the region of dependecies of SPS08, what notes needs to be checked and applied, and when to run SPAM/SAINT and JSPM! Which one shoul I run first? To sumarize I was looking to the technical details of applying SPS08.

Could you help me on where can I get that?

Thank you once again for your help

In the case of SPAM/SAINT/JSPM, you may want to review Software Update Manager (aka SUM); it will handle the ABAP and Java updates in the same upgrade process, having a stack file to complete this process is the easy way.  What SP stack are you currently on?

As far as pre-req notes there are so many different things to consider which all depend on what SolMan has been setup to perform...one example if you are upgrading from SP04 SolMan to SP05 you loose the ability to make system data changes under SMSY, SP08 to SP10 all of SMSY is locked for changes.  Charm, ITSM, system monitoring, etc will all have their own parts and pieces; most items that have issues are resolved with the central corrections note that each SP level has, SP08's central note # is 1775242.
