Missing Web Repositories in SP13

Former Member

Hi there,

I have created a few web sites and repositories (with prefix /some-folder/some_rep). The configuration check went through successfully. However, I did not see the web repositories from the "Add Data Source" selection screen/menu. I had also checked the "some-folder" repository but could not find the web-repositories that I created as well.

Any insight will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi!

The usual checklist for failed web-repositories:

- proxy: if you need a proxy to access the web-site make sure it is configured - or if you don't need a proxy make sure, that no one is configured and that "Use System Default Proxy Settings" is NOT checked.

- active flag: make sure that "Active" is checked.

- in the component monitor you can view the "Properties" of the servers you configured - here you might find information about the cause for the problem

Kind regards, Dirk

Hi Dirk,

Thanks for the quick response.

Unfortunately, I still can't view the datasources. In fact, I had created a few dummy Web-Repositories/websites with no proxy settings. However, the data source and the repository (config prefix /somesite) did not show up.

I have checked the component monitor but did not find any thing that is peculiar.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi!

So in the component monitor you see the repositories and they are green?

Idea 1:

If you want to add repositories to a classification index you must turn on the application properties service for these.

Idea 2:

You can't add the same repository or folder to more than one index.

Kind regards, Dirk

Dirk,

Here is the weird thing.

I created the HTTP systems, Websites and Web then Repositories for those those websites with prefix: /YAHOO and (for instance).

In theory, I would have been able to view those repositories throught KM content or componet monitor. However, I was not able to find the repository. Btw, all the repositores have green lights. Yes, the properties services were turned on.

Any insights will be appreciated.

Hi!

What do you mean by "in theory"? Do you see them or not

- in the component monitor?

- in the KM Admin browser?

Where exactly do you miss the repository:

- in the control where you select a datasource for an index?

- where else?

Kind regards, Dirk

Dirk:

Okay. I don't see the repository (the prefix /SAPTEST and the web repository) that I created in the Component Minitor or in the datasource.

Let's recap:

1) Web Repository Manager (KM Config) shows that I had created a few repositories

2) Component Moniotr - Repository Managers does not show the repositories that I created through Web-Repository Manager.

3) DataSource Assignment for Index - the Web Repositories are missing as it derives the list from the Rep. Manager of the Component.

Any insight will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Paul

Hi!

Maybe we must clarify the terminology to be sure, we are talking about the same things.

A web-repository is what you create under CM Config/Repository Managers/Web Repository.

A web-site you create under CM Config/Repository Managers/Web Sites.

You can assign multiple web-sites to a single web-repository.

In the hierarchy of CM you will find these web-sites below the root of the web-repository. E.g. if the web-repository has the prefix /webrm and a site has the name mysite you will find the root page of this site in the directory /webrm/mysite/.

Now, sorry for asking the same questions again:

- do you see your web-repository in the component monitor and admin explorer?

- if you open the web-repository, do you see the web-sites?

Kind regards, Dirk

Dirk:

Thanks for clarifying.

I have created multiple websites (Web1,Web2,Web3) and addisgned to a Repository (/SAPTest).

To answer your questions:

No, I don't see the web repository (SAPTest) Component Monitor nor in the Admin Exploter. As the repository is missing from component monitor; hence, I did not see it from the DataSource Assigmnemt screen for Index Management.

The Web Repostory looks fine in the Repository Manager - Active and Properly Configured. That's what puzzled me.

Many thanks to your helpful advice.

Cheers,

Paul

I suggest to open a CSN for that.

Thanks Dirk.

I have already done so.

The error was just strange....

Was there ever a resolution for this? I am having the same exact issue in SP14 upgraded from SP9). The weird thing is that another portal upgraded from SP9->SP12->SP13->SP14 works just fine. I posted a query to SAP and have gotten no response.
