Export to CSV changes Column Headers and order of Columns

Former Member

when a webi report is exported as a txt file the structure of the report remains in tact, however, when the option to export as a csv is chosen the headers change and the order of the headers are changed.

Has anyone found a resolution or patch to fix this issue?

Currently on BI 4.0 SP05 Patch 2 and have tested in SP06.

Hi Jason,

Exporting to CSV and exporting to TXT are entirely different functionalities in Webi.

When we save a report in TXT, the report gets saved exactly same as it is in Webi; however, when you export report to CSV format, it will dump the query data and will show the query object names.

The order of columns in CSV must match with the order of objects in your query.

This is a default behavior of WebIntelligence.

You can choose among both functionalities on the basis of your requirement.

Export the Document as CSV Archive and the format would be intact similar to the report.

This solution certainly doesn't help when one needs to export as tab delimited in a scheduled report. To have the export arbitrarily change the sequence of the columns just because it is csv is ridiculous. Who designed this mess?

Hi Jason,

if you still need to use output in csv for future use; you can always try to save it first in excel which will keep your headers, column orders intact and then convert it into csv.

hi,

you can, in the HTML client, export the entire document or even the report as .csv.

choose the seventh icon from left to right.
