1. For Hierarchy variant, the log msg says "Select a hierarchy"
2. Two variant with description as "Value Type for Reporting Text" and "Country Text". If I right click and select Maintain Variant, can't bring me to the variant maintenance screen, in stead, the status bar shows that "Attributes are not yet maintained". The log msg says:
Diagnosis
The attributes have either not yet been created or activated.
The data cannot be taken from the source system without maintained
attributes. Therefore, this data request is not possible.
Procedure
Maintain the attributes for this master data-InfoSource in the
Administrator Workbench and then activate them.
I go to RSA1 -> InfoObject view, search for Country Text, but can't find this InfoObject for "Country Text". I can find the infoObject 0VYPE for "Value Type for Reporting" here, but since our Development box is gone and we can only use test system that I can only display this InfoObject, the version shows it's "Active" and the Oject Status shows "Active, executable". It seems that this InfoObject has been activated already, right?
How to resolve these two kinds of red errors?
Kevin,
1. For the hierarchy extraction, you need to choose the hierarchy in the InfoPackage. Maintain the Hierarchy variant. It should open InfoPackage. On the "Hierarchy Selection" tab, choose the hierarchy which you need to extract. If you dont see any hierarchies there, click on refresh "Available Hierarchies from OLTP" button.
2. Check your transfer rules. Go to RSA1-> InfoSources. Locate 0VTYPE & 0COUNTRY. Check the source sys assignments & trf rules for them.

hi Parag,
You are always great!
We have four master hierarchies:
1. Material Hierarchy,
2. G/L Account Number Hierarchy,
3. Cost Center Hierarchy, and
4. Profit Center Hierarchy.
For No. 1, there is only one hierarchy called "Batch" in the Hierarch Selection tab, therefore I can select this one, and now the red error is gone.
For No. 2, there are a lot for different country financial statements, I select the U.S. one and now the red error is gone.
But for 3rd one and 4th one, cost center/profit center hierarchies, I have no idea to select from the list since there are a lot and can't see any clue from the description. Do you have any idea on how to select for the last two?
I go to RSA1 -> InfoSources, locate 0VTYPE and 0Country and find that under Transfer_Structure/Transfer_Rules, there is no any Source System/DataSource assigned. I can assign source system for them, but when I click the button "Assign DS" to assign data source based on the selected Source system, there are a lot listed. Which datasource do I have to select from the list for the 0VTYPE and 0Country?
Thanks
hi Parag,
The functional guys were gone before I came on board and i am the only one to support the system!
If I click the buttton "Assign DS", can't find any datasource 0VTYPE_TEXT and 0COUNTRY_TEXT from the list based on the source system selected, how to make these two datasources show up in the list?
Thanks
These datasources may not be active in the source sys.
Login to the source system and go to transaction RSA5. Expand all the nodes and search for 0VTYPE_TEXT. Highlight it and click on Transfer Datasources button. This will activate the datasource. Repeat the same for 0COUNTRY_TEXT.
Then in BW, goto RSA1-> Source systems. Right click the source sys and choose replicate datasource. After that you can assign to your InfoSources.
Hope it helps.
hi Parag,
I go to RSA5 on our R3 system, but can't find any 0VTYPE_TEXT and 0COUNTRY_TEXT. Then I changed the search keyword by typy in "Vendor Type", returns nothing. For Country, if I type in "Country", then returns three:
1. 0TV_COUNTRY_TEXT Trip country
2. 0COUNTRY_ID_TEXT Country Grouping
3. 0RECIPCNTRY_TEXT Destination country
I also try RSA6 for post processing DS, and also try replicate datasource on BW, but still can't find any!
Thanks
