Jump Queries

Hi All,

I have a basic quetion about Jump queries. When we do a jump from a source query to to a target query

1. Do we need to have same free characteristics and filters in both?

2. If the source querys' free characteristics have a variable defined, should the same free characteristic in the target query also have the variable.

Thanks.

Hi George,

1. All the chars in both the quereis do not have to be the same. The jump will be executed with the values of chars that are common between both of them.

2. This is not a technical requiremnt for the jump to be executed.

Hope this helps...

Bhanu,

Thanks for the response. I was asking about 'Free Characteristics' and 'Filter characteristics. Do both the queries need to have both Free char. and filters?

My question is: say, i have an amount in 1st query. I need the split amounts of the original amt. This split amt. info. is available in the 2nd query. If i have distr. channel as my free char. (with variable) in 1st query do i also need to have the same char. (with same variable) in the second query.

Could you give a generic answer.

Thanks.

Hi george

No its not mandatory to have free characteristics or filters in the target query as u have in source query. consider an example

Scenario 1:

In source query you have BATCH NUMBER and BOX NUMBER in Free characteristics.

In target query you have the BATCH NUMBER and BOX NUMBER in the Rows.

When you double click on the MATERIAL it will take you to the target query and display the split of BOXES and BATCHES.

Scenario 2:

In source query you have BATCH NUMBER and BOX NUMBER in Free characteristics.

In target query also you have the BATCH NUMBER and BOX NUMBER in the Free Characteristics.

When you double click on the MATERIAL it will take you to the target query and but it will not display the split of BOXES and BATCHES. when you double click on BOXES AND BATCHES in the target query it will display in detail level.

Hope it helps
