Situation:
In performing the upgrade for MSSQL database from MSSQL 2005 SP4 to MSSQL 2012.
Current ECC system is ECC 6.0 EHP4 SP6/ Kernel 720 Patch 500 Unicode/Windows 2008R2/MSSQL 2005SP4.
Question:
Do we need to update SP stack and kernel to update database to 2012?
Thank you and best regards,
Jie
Hello
I believe you will need to update the kernel to 720_EXT.
Please check these SAP notes.
1651862 - Release planning for Microsoft SQL Server 2012
1676665 - Setting up Microsoft SQL Server 2012
1732161 - SAP Systems on Windows Server 2012 (R2)
The first note will give you the information about the minimum SP level required.

Hello,
No, it is not required. If system release is supported for database release then it is not required. But in case of Java system, you might need to update JDBC drivers.
Thanks,
Sunny
