client import stuck?

Former Member

Not sure, I think my client import is stuck.

I have added the 2 transports for client import. The data and cofiles are in place. I see the truck running. When I click on Goto>Monitor I see the last update hours ago. Not any updates after it started. In SM50, I dont see any activity. I tried to run RDDIMPDP and it says " At present there is no header entry in table TRBAT". I checked TRBAT, TRJOB and TMSTLOCKR and dont see any entries.

I tried deleting the import from the monitor, added it again, but the action seems to be the same. Could anyone help me out here? What to check?

Hi Jim,

At OS level, check how many tp.exe process are active.

From SAP level, go to STMS --> IMPORT Overview -->  go to queue to respect system -->(from menu Queue--> Check --> Transport tool)
This should give you correct output with in seconds.
If this hangs then best suggestion is to kill the tp process from OS level.

1st the import form IMPORT Monitor,

Lock the system from STMS,

kill all tp.exe process.

Unlock system from TMS and re import.

this should work.

Ravi

\\SERVER\sapmnt\trans\tmp\SIDKKT00022.DEV

You should check whether the file size is increasing or not.

What does the SLOG file say ?

Before that I would check the tablespace whether it is growing or not.

Are there any R3trans processes running at the S level ?

If there is no activity in the system then you may delete the semaphore file.

Some good notes for reference.

68896  - R3trans: Performance problems and cluster

1127194  - R3trans import with parallel processes

Hi Jim

If transport is stuck then check the following:

Import queue -->goto -->tp system log

here check transport status whether is start or stop.  If the status is start then no problem, but if the status is stop then go to Import monitor --> under exceution select request and right click and delete entry. Then go to SM30 enter TRBAT & TRJOB tables there shouldn't be any entry, if there is any entry in these tables then delete entry. Then re-import transport request.& monitor tp system log.

Check the logs in /usr/sap/trans/tmp.

Also, check the following thread

https://scn.sap.com/message/7402620

Please reward points if the issue is resolved.

Thanks

Hi ,

First of all check i would check that there is log being updated in the /usr/sap/trans/tmp and /usr/sap/trans/log.

Second thing that there is no DB space related issue in db logs or error in Sm21.

Third thing just login in 000 and schedule RDDNEWPP and RDDPUTPP with DDIC.

Forth thing check the current R3trans and tp process that are active at os level.

Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I did so. I see the following error in SLOG file.

\\SERVER\sapmnt\trans\tmp\SIDKKT00022.DEV is already in use (410), I'm waiting 5 sec (201310300000). My name: pid 3696 on SERVER (APServiceDEV)

I checked OSS note 690449 which mentions about .LOB file. Mine is the .SID file and not the .LOB file, and I think this may not be applicable to me. I can't find other OSS notes.

Any help?

Hi Jim,

You can restart the client import.

1. kill the tp, rename the log files.

2. check the table space before importing the client.

3. Rename the file \\SERVER\sapmnt\trans\tmp\SIDKKT00022.DEV.

4. start the import again.

5. Keep track of archive logs.
