Is NWBC for Desktop as fast as regular SAPGUI? Since it employs role-based menus, I understand it is a bit slower starting up because it has to get all the roles, but once NWBC is up and running, should it be just as fast as SAPGUI? I was thinking it should be as fast as SAPGUI because it uses "embedded SAPGUI".
What are some reasons that NWBC for Desktop be slower than SAPGUI?
Does NWBC 4.0 run faster with CORBU theming turned on and slower when CORBU is turned off?
Thank you in advance,
Rick
Hi Rick,
as you said, you have to get the roles first, but only once.
NWBC does not change the performance behavior of the contained applications. The shell adds some additional performance on top but this happens in a constant way and does not relate to the performance behavior of the application.
See all the details here in the SAP Library Docu:
Chapter 8.

Sandra

Thank you for your reply, Sandra. A follow-up question that I would like to ask:
I have run IW38 from Webgui (HTML based) and IW38 from NWBC for Desktop (embedded SAPGUI) and notice a definite performance advantage of NWBC for Desktop over SAPGUI for HTML (Webgui). Of course, I have never read where the performance of NWBC for Desktop should be equal to NWBC for HTML.
Is this the correct expectation that NWBC Desktop is faster than NWBC HTML because that is what my timings are revealing.
Best regards,
Rick
Hi Rick,
NWBC 3.5 for Desktop shows faster Client CPU times than NWBC for HTML - especially for the steps where WDA-application is being started or new windows are being opened (saving 300-500ms, roughly 10% in average). NWBC for Desktop saves also roundtrips during the start of WDA Application and also slightly reduces the data transfer between client and server in such case.
Currently we are running new tests with NWBC 4.0. The results are not yet available.
I'll keep you up to date.
regards,
sandra
I was wondering if anyone has done any more testing? We are looking at using NWBC for a new project and have noticed significant delays in response time. Is there any settings that we may be missing in our environment to help with the speed?
Thanks
Vickie
