Crystal Reports 2011 : Invalid License Code ?

Former Member

OS : Windows 2012 Server Standard

Installed : Crystal Reports 2011 SP4

Well - i hope someone is able to help me on this.

A running installation of Crystal Reports 2011 ( SP4 ) stopped working on Thursday, Ocober 26th.

The Designer didn´t start anymore and the eventlog showed an application crash.

Setup with the "repair" option showed no errors, unfortunately it didn´t solve the problem.

I uninstalled the program and tried to re-install, now the INS00140 -> license code invalid message appears.

Same problem with SP6 installation.

Message was edited by: Mark Schraven Tried another License-Key that is known to be valid ( for testing, of course ) -> same error. Not valid.

Hi Mark,

Try below procedure it may help you.

1. Save the Crystal Reports installer in C drive, and install again.

2. Go to Control Panel select Programs and Features and uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Patches if any.

3. Go to the LocalDrive 'C' and search for Cryptocme2.dll and after completion of the search process take the back up of the Cryptocme2.dll of multiple applications installed on the server machine.

4. Rename the Cryptocme2.dll to Cryptocme2.orig.

5. Enter the License Key to proceed with the installation

6. After finishing installation successfully, rename the modified dll to the original to make the applications relates to those dlls to work fine.

Thank you very much Praveen !

Renaming Cryptocme2.dll did the trick - altough i can´t image the reason for this problem to occure.

Anyway : consider it solved i can call it a day.

Message was edited by: Mark Schraven Update : With the Cryptocme2.dll named .ori the application starts and works. Renaming Cryptocme2.dll BACK from .ori to .dll brings me back to the first problem : Crystal Reports crashes.
