Low-level-code in cost run

Hi All,

I'm setting up a cost run. I remember in the past we had a discussion to exclude low-level-code BLANK (not zero).

I've learned how the low-level-code is calculated from explosion level. Probably the cost run works thru the low-level-codes starting with the highest number to ensure cost is calculated from the bottom up to the finished product. Am I right?

But what materials do have low-level-code BLANK (" ")?

Thanks

Hello Ex Berliner,

The costing level is calculated during costing run and based on the cost roll-up concepts as discussed in the following SAP Help links (please try to use firefox browser if you are facing issues with the links):

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_470/helpdata/en/7e/cb7f2f43a311d189ee0000e81ddfac/content.htm

http://help.sap.com/saphelp_46c/helpdata/en/7e/cb82fe43a311d189ee0000e81ddfac/content.htm

The costing levels are based on BOM level or the product structure, but I do not think there is a specific connection with the BOM low level code. The BOM low level code is used internally by MRP to ensure that no requirement element is missed in net requirement calculation. A low level code blank or zero means that the material is not being used as a component inside any BOM.

The costing level can be displayed in the following manner in CK13N itself. Use the menu function Goto -> Material Overview:

In the ALV output, choose 'Level' column if not selected.

Exberliner,

Yes the reason it to leave it blank because it selects all the levels during cost run.

The low level code is basically used by MRP internally only,If you leave the material, MRP area, plant and low-level code fields blank, the system selects all materials in all MRP areas and all plants.

Preferably do not insert any value for Low level during Standard cost run unless you just wanted to cost the Lower level specific materials only.

The level that is set in the Material master record represents the level at which the material will be planned.

This means that the material will only be planned once all Assemblies in which it occurs have been planned and exploded. The low-level code is set internally in the material master record when the BOM is maintained.

Hi Hrusikesh,

It seems that the materials with low-level-code is not populated (=BLANK) are materials w/o BOM and additionally not used in any BOM as component, could that be right?

Are these low-level-codes assigned to costing levels?

Thanks

Exberliner,

If it is Raw materials , then Yes this is correct i guess if Materials without BOM and not used as component there is no point included them in Costing run.

The system explodes the BOM from top to bottom (low-level codes), and assigns costing levels (from the costing view)

I did not get this point Are these low-level-codes assigned to costing levels? Did you went through the help link?

Best regards

Hrusikesh,

Sorry, if I was unclear. Are these low-level-codes assigned to costing levels

The question was, are the low-level-codes assigned then to costing levels 1:1?

That is, can I assume that every particular low-level-code in MARA is assigned to the respective costing level, meaning LLC 1 is costing level 1, LLC2 costing level 2 and so on?

Maybe there is some table to see which LLC is assigned to which costing level.

Regards and thanks

Exberliner,

I dont know in R/3 system you can get such a detailed level information or report.

Try using program RCS12001 and RCS11001, and it has BOM Explosion level information which determines the cost roll up to different level.

Best Regards
