Switch between History vs Current Table via Webi Report to IDT Universe

We have existing Webi Reports which prompts for Date Range Values in order to display "Order" information.

We have the need to physically split our SQL Order table into OrderHistory and OrderCurrent based on a cut off date.

I would like to have this split be invisible to the Users of the Reports and have the Universe do the table switching behind the scenes based upon the date range entered in the Webi.

I have investigated the use of aggregate_aware with contexts and filters (as seen in other discussion groups), but this will not work as the filter (history vs current) would need to be included in the report by the webi user.

Everything I have tried requires the webi user to indicate which table to use - which is unsatisfactory. Any info, ideas appreciated.

Thank you!

use sub query in webi query and union operator.two queries one frm current and one from histroical.

for this you have to create objects in universe from both the tables.

Thanks for the idea Amit. I would like to avoid unions as that would seem to defeat the purpose of seperating the tables for performance issues. Can you think of something that would avoid a union?

This is the solution i have in my mind which will be easy one.otherwise i don't think so you can achieve this by context..

how much data are you expecting in the report if user will run on date range?

how frequent users are going to be use this report?

what is the reporting database?
