MD04 or MD05 ?

Hi,

Which of the lists MD04 or MD05 are to be used by the planners on a day to day basis? I know MD04 is dynamic and shows the latest stock and requirements and MD05 shows what was at the time of the last MRP run. But I am trying to find out which list to use when and whats the value of MD05 if it is "outdated" compared to MD04 ?

Thanks

Hi,GS:

MD05:

eg. Someone in business team manually create planned order or purchase order after MRP . and others may be confused with the MRP result and doubt the accuracy of MRP. At this time, you can use MD05 to verify the MRP logic. MD05 is more an evidence at this perspective..Besides that, procurement team can based on MD05 MRP result to purchase material,to avoid frequently requirement change in MD04.and there are also other benefits of MD05.

It's better to use MD04 for production and sales.Since it is dynamic and any change can be reflected..Generally speaking,it depends on whether you need latest information or you expect to make your business operation based on MRP result.

Hello

I think that you should use both: MD05 to evaluate the MRP results and the exception messages generated during the MRP run and MD04 to in the period between the MRP executions. You should use both because the exception messages (especially rescheduling) may be different between MD04 and MD05.

Please refer to the following information, provided on question 3 of the FAQ note 550441, which explains the differences on the design of both transactions which causes this system behavior:

3.         Question:

I can see an exception message in the MRP list (Transaction

MD05).Why does the system not display this message in the current

    stock/requirements list (Transaction MD04) also?

    Answer:

In Transaction MD04 you can only display exception messages that

result from the import of the MRP elements from the

database. However, the MRP list (MD05) is the result of the last

planning run, that is, the system displays such exception messages

here that occurred during the planning of this material. This also

causes exception messages from the net requirements calculation or

lot size determination. For example, exception messages '25' (Excess

stock), '70' (Max. release qty - quota exceeded) or '28' (Uncovered

reqmt after effective-out date) can only be displayed in Transaction

MD05, yet not in Transaction MD04.For more information about this,

    see Note 29703.
