Applying MSSQL 2008 R2 Supportpack 3

Hi All,

I have mssql database with the version of 10.50.2769

would like to upgrade the database patches to latest as sap recommends.

I was not able to find the latest database patches for mssql 2008 r2.

Please let me know what is the latest  sql db patches supported by sap and the download location.

Attached is the sql information of my sever.

Please suggest.

The latest SP for SQL Server 2008 R2 is SP2:

Hi Eduardo,

Thanks for the update, we have applied the patch version 10.50.4000.0

however when we run a  audit it says the latest version is 10.50.4290 for sql 2008 r2

I was not able to find it on SMP. I want to make sure what is the latest patch level which is Recommended by sap.

Please suggest.

Hello Jawwad,

10.50.4000 is the latest Service Pack (SP2 for SQL Server 2008 R2).

10.50.4290 is the CU8 for SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 (released August 2013):

As per note 62988:

Cumulative Updates
We recommend that you implement Cumulative Updates soon after they become available. Cumulative Updates often solve problems that can also occur on SAP databases. Conversely, it is very improbable that a Cumulative Update causes new problems. Rare exceptions are documented in the relevant SAP Notes.

We do not keep the SQL Server Service Packs or Cumulative Updates in SMP anymore, you can use the Microsoft website to download the SP or CU.

Thanks for the quick update, so 10.50.4290 is the CU8 for SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 (released August 2013) is that version not supported. If its supported can we go ahead and Apply the update to the sql 2008 r2 version.
